Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. Panagiotis Theodorou

Associate Professor Dr Panagiotis Theodorou is the leading physician at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic at the Johanniter Bethesda Hospital in Mönchengladbach and is a faculty member at the Witten/Herdecke University. After graduating from Hanover Medical School, he completed his training to become a general surgeon in Switzerland. He then specialised in plastic and cosmetic surgery in various centres around Germany. Prior to becoming the leading physician in Mönchengladbach, Dr Theodorou spent over 8 years working in the Cologne-Merheim University Hospital, where he trained numerous students and doctors in the field of plastic and cosmetic surgery in his role as leading physician.

Besides his clinical work, Dr Theodorou is also active in the field of research. He has developed new surgical techniques and researched wound healing within the clinical field. These methods are now standard practice for cosmetic operations performed across the world. He has also experimented with stem cells, fat cells and myocardial cells as part of his basic research. The results of his work have been published in numerous journals and are used to the benefit of his patients.
His outstanding achievements in the field of research and in teaching have helped to advance plastic and cosmetic surgery and have led to the university awarding him the title of Associate Professor following an academic exam.
In addition to the examinations to acquire the medical title for plastic and cosmetic surgery and hand surgery, Dr Theodorou also voluntarily took the corresponding European examinations. These tests guarantee all patients across Europe safe and objective quality standards thanks to the use of standardised criteria.
Dr Theodorou regularly takes part in national and international cosmetic surgery congresses. In addition, he is part of numerous groups on social media and seeks to explain the surgical and non-surgical treatment methods from his field and to provide information about the latest research through direct contact with patients.
He is a member of numerous reputable national and international professional societies and is also a consultant for the Dusseldorf and Moenchengladbach county courts. His department has been recognised as a training facility for plastic and cosmetic surgery by the North Rhine Medical Association.
