The General Meeting of the German Society of Neurosurgery elected Prof. Hans Clusmann, Director of Neurosurgery Department at Aachen University Hospital, as its President. He assumed office on July 1, 2024 for a term of two years. His total term of office includes the two previous years as Vice President as well as two years after 2026.
The German Society of Neurosurgery (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurochirurgie, DGNC) is an association of physicians and scientists in Germany working in or interested in neurosurgery. The aim of the Society is to promote scientific research and optimize practice in this medical field. By supporting the exchange of scientific knowledge and practical experience as well as encouraging scientific activities, the DGNC aims to develop links between German neurosurgeons and cooperation with German and foreign physicians and scientists as well as specialized communities.
Important aspects of the President's activities include promoting transparency and the motivating young talents who have shown themselves in the fields of neurosurgical clinical practice and research, including the establishment of a Youth Forum. Prof. Clusmann will also focus on developing interdisciplinary links, e.g. with the Spine Society, and participating in the development of hospital reforms.
The election as President of the DGNC is a recognition of our respected expert’s authority, his scientific achievements and organizational skills. We wish Prof. Klusmann every success and remarkable achievements in his new field of activity.
