As part of his internal medicine training, Dr. Mirkin worked in healthcare facilities specializing in various fields (cancer care, gastroenterology, pulmonology & sleep medicine, cardiology) and was able to gain extensive knowledge and vast practical experience.
After successfully passing his qualification exam, he was certified as an internal medicine physician by the Düsseldorf Medical Board.
For more than 4 years, Dr. Mirkin worked at the Cardiology and Angiology Department of the Duisburg Heart Center, where he was able to develop and improve his expertise and skills in angiology, echocardiography, cardiac catheter diagnostics/therapy, pacemaker implantation.
In 2002, he successfully passed the qualification exam and was certified as a cardiology specialist by the Düsseldorf Medical Board.
For five years, Michael Mirkin was a senior physician in the Department of Cardiology at the Hermann-Josef Hospital Erkelenz, the Aachen University teaching hospital. His range of activities included invasive diagnostics and therapy (including both routine and emergency procedures as part of the 24-hour emergency heart attack service). He has also performed complex coronary interventions (including rotablation, the challenging percutaneous treatment of the left stem disease, procedures using intraoperative complication prevention systems, intravascular ultrasonography, closure of coronary fistulas and aneurysms, etc.), as well as independently performed surgeries for congenital heart disease (patient foramen ovale/atrial septal defect closure). In addition, Dr. Mirkin was responsible for the ultrasound laboratory (echocardiography, including 3D-echo) and the cardiac CT department.
Since 2013, Dr. Michael Mirkin has been a senior physician at the Cardiology Clinic of St. Augusta Hospital, a teaching hospital of the Düsseldorf University. This medical facility is one of the leading cardiology centers in and around Düsseldorf. It also enjoys an excellent reputation far beyond the region. In addition, the cardiology expert also runs a private office in the heart of Meerbusch, a town in the immediate vicinity of the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia.
