Profile
Prof. Mallmann has extensive experience in the diagnostics and treatment of a wide range of gynecological diseases. His area of high expertise is malignant diseases of the vagina, uterus, ovaries, and mammary glands. He has a certificate of the highest qualification in the field of breast surgery, which is given to specialists who have performed at least 150 breast cancer operations in the last 5 years. In addition to his activity as director of one of the leading gynecological clinics in Germany, in 2012 Prof. Mallmann became co-founder of the European Institute of Gynecological Oncology. This renowned organization brings together the efforts of physicians and scientists from all over Europe in the research, prevention, and treatment of malignant gynecologic disorders.

Do men really get breast cancer? The expert answer is yes, although it is rather rare. The problem is that such a tumor is considered a typically female disease. Therefore, in representatives of the other sex, the disease is often diagnosed relatively late, and this can affect the chances of cure. Therapy is generally based on the same guidelines that are currently used for breast carcinoma in women; yet, there are some specifics.
Along with surgery and various types of drugs, radiation therapy is an important component of combination treatment for malignant breast tumors. Its techniques and algorithms are being improved constantly in order to increase the effectiveness and safety of radiotherapy.

Cystic masses are characterized by hidden symptoms. They are often detected during preventive screening in women aged 30-50. If a breast cyst has been detected, the issue of specific treatment planning arises.

Mastopathy is a benign disease of the mammary glands, which is accompanied by changes in the glandular breast tissue. The condition affects 50-80% of women of childbearing age, mainly from 30 to 50 years, and is manifested by cycle-dependent breast swelling and pain, ending up with the formation of nodes and cysts.

Among the problems related to the mammary glands, mastopathy is the most common. The disease comes in a number of types. In young girls until the age of 35, fibroadenoma of the mammary gland is common. The condition may not be disturbing for an extended period.
